AWS Top Secret Cloud

AWS provides cloud computing infrastructure and capability across all security classification levels: Unclassified, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Sensitive, Secret, and Top Secret.

Introduction to the AWS Top Secret cloud

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Top Secret cloud is dedicated to the enterprise and mission needs of the US Intelligence Community and Department of Defense, as well as mission partners across federal civilian agencies, research and development centers, and private industry. The AWS Top Secret cloud combines innovation in cloud computing with a dedicated infrastructure that provides customers and partners with the scale and speed needed to move from data collection to decisions and action.

The AWS Top Secret cloud is accredited to operate workloads at the Top-Secret classification level and maintains security compliance under the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Intelligence Community Directive (ICD 503) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53 Revision 4. The AWS Top Secret cloud offers complete physical and network isolation and operates with 24/7, cleared US citizen support.

Resilient architecture

From the data center to the tactical edge, the AWS Top Secret cloud is expansive and includes multiple Availability Zones (AZs) spanning multiple regions to provide fault tolerance, stability, resilience, and reduced latency.

These Regions are geographically separated to ensure resiliency, enabling customers to accelerate and distribute workloads closer to end-users. Users also have the flexibility to meet resiliency and mission continuity requirements utilizing multiple AZs or multiple Regions.

For enhanced networking performance, the AWS Top Secret cloud offers dedicated connectivity through the AWS Direct Connect Service. This service provides high-bandwidth network connectivity from suitable on-premises networks directly to the AWS Top Secret cloud.

AWS is committed to helping our customers and partners in the defense, intelligence, and national security communities deliver their most critical missions. By removing the undifferentiated heavy lifting of the underlying IT infrastructure, national security customers are able to focus on keeping the United States secure.

Why AWS Top Secret cloud

Cloud computing provides organizations with the opportunity to replace up-front capital infrastructure expenses with low variable costs that scale with mission and business requirements. With the cloud, customers no longer need to plan for and procure servers and other IT infrastructure weeks or months in advance. Instead, they can spin up hundreds or thousands of servers in minutes and deliver results faster. Today, AWS provides highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure in the cloud that powers a multitude of diverse government and business missions.
